Hamilton Safety Center

Hamilton, VA

The Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department share the new Safety Center, a state-of-the-art, spacious facility located at the intersection of E. Colonial Highway (Route 7) and Hamilton Station Road (Route 704). Prior to the center’s construction, the two companies were housed in separate station houses they had both outgrown.

Bowman Consulting provided civil engineering and surveying services for this project, which included a 17,000 sf building with 6 attached bays for fire and rescue vehicles and a 5,400 s.f. annex building. A site plan was developed and processed through the Town of Hamilton and included design for stormwater, sanitary sewers, water, and stormwater management.

As the project progressed, it was clear that it would exceed the anticipated budget and its completion was in jeopardy. In an effort to stay within the project budget and to demonstrate its commitment to community service, Bowman Consulting performed part of the work pro bono. As a result, the project was completed on-time and within the allocated budget.
