John Rolfe Parkway and Ridgefield Parkway Sidewalk Improvements

Henrico County, Virginia

Bowman Consulting Group is under contract with the County of Henrico Department of Public Works to provide engineering services, construction and bid documents, and construction administration for the Ridgefield Parkway Sidewalk Design funded by federal Congestion, Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds. The Project will result in the construction for approximately 3,600’ of sidewalk within the County Right of Way on John Rolfe Parkway starting approximately at Gayton Road and extending north to Ridgefield Parkway. The design will evaluate placement of a 5’ wide sidewalk or a 4’ wide sidewalk with a 2’ utility strip to maximize use of the existing right of way and minimizing property and easement acquisition. Significant efforts will be taken to preserve existing landscape screening installed by HOA’s along the corridor, and the final constructed facilities must meet ADA Compliance requirements. The completed sidewalk will provide an important connection between the local residents, nearby commercial development, and other segments of existing sidewalks.

This project is being managed out of Bowman’s local Innsbrook office, and Bowman staff will provide the following services:

  • Surveying and platting
  • Environmental reviews and permitting support
  • Drainage design
  • Sidewalk design
  • Utility coordination
  • Citizen information meetings
  • VDOT/FHWA coordination
  • Bid documents
  • Construction phase services
