Bowman Consulting provided surveying and engineering services for the widening of S.R. 707 to accommodate a turn lane at Wright Boulevard. The project was funded by the Federal Highway Authority and the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) and administered by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The project was executed through a Local Agency Progam (LAP) agreement between FDOT and Martin County for the benefit of the City of Stuart. As a stimulus project, the design was submitted and approved under urgency to take advantage of the funding available.

Bowman provided coordination between the City, County, State and Federal Agencies involved in the project. Plans were submitted through FDOT’s Electronic Review Comment ERC system and included submittals of complete packages for the Preliminary, Initial, Constructability and Final Phases of FDOT’s design and permitting process. Specifications and Bid Documents were tailored to meet County, State and Federal requirements of the project. The limited right of way available for the widening of the project required design variances that were submitted and approved by FDOT. Due to the T-Intersection configuration, an MOT plan was designed specifically for this project.
