George Mason University Faculty and Staff Housing
Fairfax County, Virginia
The extraordinarily rapid growth of George Mason University in the last three decades is accompanied by an increased demand for on-campus faculty and staff. The Northeast Sector and West Campus expansion projects are an integral part of the university’s overall master plan that will enable continued growth of this world-class campus.
Bowman Consulting provided civil engineering and land surveying services to this multi-phased project. Phase I, II and III consisted of the Northeast Sector and the West Campus sites with a proposed development of 422 total units, including 75 apartments, 105 yard townhomes, 164 urban townhomes, 58 duplex units and 20 small lot units. An engineering feasibility study was performed for all phases to examine issues associated with proposed development. A boundary survey was performed on the two site’s total 43-acres in anticipation of the necessary development plans. Also, horizontal and vertical survey control was established for each site to obtain recognition of the project on the Virginia State Grid.
