Fairfax County Park Authority Open Term Contract
Fairfax County, Virginia

Bowman Consulting is currently providing planning, engineering, and environmental consulting services on a county-wide, open-end contract for the development and/or redevelopment of park facilities including naturalized, athletic, active and/or passive recreational facilities.
As part of this contract, Bowman Consulting is providing landscape architecture , engineering, surveying, and environmental services to the following projects:
- Ossian Hall Park
Project included a forest treatment plan, topographic survey, and schematic designs for an urban public plaza, rectangular athletic field, pedestrian entrances, multi-use courts, picnic area, playground, trail connections, and parking lot expansion.
- Hidden Oaks Nature Center
Project included redesign and implementation of new Low Impact Development (LID) techniques including pervious/pourous paver parking lots, bio-retention rain gardens, and interpretative signage for an existing nature center within the Annandale District Park.
- Clemyjontri Park Natural Resource Management Plan
Prepared a Natural Resource Management Plan to support the preservation and enhancement of existing natural resources during the development and operation of park facilities.
- Green Spring Gardens Stream Restoration Plan
Provided surveys and assessments of existing conditions and developed a conceptual stream restoration plan on approximately 1,000 linear feet of Turkeycock Creek. The next phase of the project will include preparation of construction drawings.
- Old Colchester – Phase I ESA
Conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment on this park property located near Lorton, Virginia. The Phase I included the necessary field assessment, interviews with the landowner, data research, and the preparation of reporting documents. Assessment was complete within the the County’s due diligence study period.
- Mason District Amphitheater Park
Prepared the minor site plan for the reconstruction of the amphitheater, processed waivers, and obtained plan approval on first submission. The expedited production of the plan and approvals allowed for critical and much anticipated reconstruction of the facility to begin.
